Job summary

Belcan is seeking an Integrated Auxiliary Systems - Responsible Engineer in San Francisco with a hybrid work model. The role focuses on owning engine accessories and external mechanical systems, including oil cooling, air cooling, filtration, and instrumentation interfaces, across Parallax PE-10 components.

Qualified candidates have a Bachelor's in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering and 4–8 years of experience in mechanical-systems design, with proficiency in Python/ Matlab and CAD tools;

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 4-8 years in mechanical-systems/accessories or packaging design, or a relevant PhD plus ~2 years.
• Experience with lubricant/scavenge and cooling systems, pumps, filtration; instrumentation integration.

Responsibilities

• Owns hardware development from concept through high-rate production across Parallax PE-10 components.
• Define interface requirements with REs and manage coupled interactions.
• Derive loads/environments and response characteristics with Analysts.
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans.
• Analyze data to derive margins and iterate on designs.
• Collaborate with Production to scale prototype to full-rate production balancing performance, cost and complexity.
• Flex across multiple disciplines as needed.

Scope & Ownership

Owns engine accessories and external mechanical systems: oil cooling / pumping / filtration; air cooling / pumping / filtration; the mechanical instrumentation scope; and container mechanicals - the gearbox interface and genset interface. Crossover: systemsfluidspackaging.

Minimum Education

• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for your hardware
• Analyze test and qualification data to derive margins and iterate on designs
• Collaborate with Production to develop and execute prototype, low rate, and full rate production of your hardware while balancing performance, cost, and complexity
• Flex across multiple disciplines and scopes as necessary
