Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Brisbane, CA seeks a Rotor Systems- Responsible Engineer to lead end-to-end rotor hardware development, from concept through production.

You will own rotating-hardware design, perform hand calculations and basic FEA/CFD, and collaborate across REs, analysts and production to optimize performance, cost and reliability on Parallax PE-10 components.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• 4–8 years of rotating-hardware/mechanical design experience (or PhD + ~2 years).
• Experience with bearings, rotor design and life assessment.

Responsibilities

• Take sole ownership of hardware development from concept to high-rate production.
• Collaborate with REs to define interface requirements and manage coupled interactions.
• Coordinate with Analysts to derive loads and environment for hardware.
• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for hardware.
• Analyze data to derive margins and iterate on designs.
• Support production across prototype to full-rate production, balancing performance and cost.
• Flex across multiple disciplines as needed.

Role Summary

Responsible Engineer – Own end-to-end requirements development, design, analysis, test, qualification, and lifecycle management. Expected to perform hand calculations and straightforward FEA/CFD tasks.

Scope & Ownership

Owns the rotating hardware: compressor and turbine rotor drums, bearings (compressor, CT, PT), rotor-side seals, and rotor secondary-air tapoffs. Works hand-in-glove with the Rotordynamics SME. Crossover: structures rotordynamics secondary air.

Minimum Education

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• Master's preferred

Experience

• 4-8 years of rotating-hardware / mechanical design, or a relevant PhD plus ~2 years
• Bearings, rotor structural design, curvic/bolted joints and component life

• Develop and execute test and qualification plans for your hardware
• Analyze test and qualification data to derive margins and iterate on designs
• Collaborate with Production to develop and execute prototype, low rate, and full rate production of your hardware while balancing performance, cost, and complexity
• Flex across multiple disciplines and scopes as necessary
