Job summary

Mortenson is seeking a Design Phase Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling in Minneapolis, MN. This role supports project leadership during the design phase, focusing on customer experience, financial performance, scheduling, estimating, design, and planning to ensure a smooth transition to construction operations.

The position offers two levels (I or II) based on experience, with compensation determined by knowledge and location.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field.
Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback.

Responsibilities

Support and potentially lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including alignment of scope and budget.
Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations.
Craft and manage project schedules and milestone tracking.
Assist in regulatory approval and permitting processes.
Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals.
Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection.
Identify technical design concerns and elevate for resolution.
