• Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level.
• Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback.
• Ability to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Support and potentially lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including ensuring scope and budget alignment.
• Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations and related communications.
• Craft and manage project schedules and milestones, holding team members accountable.
• Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process.
• Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals.
• Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection.
• Identify technical design and specification concerns and escalate as needed.
• Build relationships across diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
• All other duties as assigned.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Design Phase Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling

SUMMARY

Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Design Phase Engineer I or II - Structured Cabling to join our team. Design Phase Engineers are responsible for providing support to project leadership during the design phase as it relates to customer experience, financial performance, schedule, estimating, design and planning that results in a smooth transition to construction operations.

This position offers opportunities at both levels I or II, allowing candidates to apply based on their experience and qualifications. Compensation for this role is determined based on factors such as experience and location.

Location: Minneapolis, MN (HQ)

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support and potentially lead EPC contract negotiations with customers, including . Support the project team in achieving scope and budget alignment, schedule alignment, an integrated team experience, construction readiness, and excellent financial performance
• Assist with establishing and managing project budget and scope expectations, budget trending logs, and any associated communications and resources
• Craft and manage project schedules and key milestones, hold team members accountable for reaching set milestones
• Assist in regulatory approval and permitting process
• Assist in the preparation of bid packages and contract manuals
• Support bid analysis and subcontractor selection
• Identify technical design and specification concerns, escalating as needed to achieve resolution
• Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
• All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, Estimating, or equivalent field
• Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
• Microsoft Office, Project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level

• Ability to travel up to 25%
• Design Phase Engineer I Qualifications:
• 2+ years of relevant experience
• Design Phase Engineer II Qualifications:
• 4+ years of relevant experience

The base compensation range for this role is: $84,100 - $126,100. Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skill, and experience with consideration given to internal equity.
