Job summary

Katy ISD SHAFER ELEMENTARY in Katy, Texas is seeking an Aide - SPED to support students with disabilities under the supervision of the Principal. This is a full-time non-exempt position with 187 duty days.

The role requires a Texas Educational Aide II certificate, ParaPro scores, and the ability to follow directions, communicate effectively, and assist with lifting and positioning as needed. CPI certification is preferred and may be obtained after hire.

Qualifications

• College hours 48 for Title I campus or ParaPro score 464.
• College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED with 464 ParaPro.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies for special education aides.
• Assist in carrying out instructional program.
• Maintain student records and data collection.
• Assist with instructional materials and equipment.
• Support teacher-planned activities and drills.
• Assist with self-care activities and positioning as needed.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Prompt students during instruction as needed.
• Perform other SHARS duties as assigned.
