Job summary

Katy ISD YOUNGBLOOD ELEMENTARY in Katy, Texas is seeking a SPED Aide to support teachers and students with disabilities. This position involves clerical tasks, student-care duties and assisting in instructional activities under supervision.

The role requires ParaPro/test scores or Title I qualifications, a Texas Educational Aide II certificate, and the ability to work with children with disabilities. CPI certification is preferred and SIC guidelines apply.

Qualifications

• College hours for Title I campus 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test.
• College hours 15 or high school diploma or GED (with a passing score of 464 on the ParaPro test) for Non-Title I campus.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education aides.
• Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist in maintaining student records, audit folders and data collection.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
