Job summary

Katy ISD BOUDNY ELEMENTARY in Katy, Texas is hiring an Aide - SPED - Adaptive Behavior to support instructional and student-care activities. Reports to the Principal with 187 duty days and a non-exempt wage framework.

The role involves assisting students with disabilities, following instructions, and maintaining materials and equipment. Qualified candidates will have Title I/ParaPro credentials and a Texas Educational Aide II certificate.

Qualifications

• College hours for Title I campus: 48 required or a score of 464 on the ParaPro test.
• College hours 15, high school diploma or GED (with passing score on ParaPro) for Non-Title I campus.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide II certificate required once employed.
• Ability to work with children with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instruction.
• Ability to communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of general office equipment.
• Valid CPI certification preferred (can be obtained after employment).

Responsibilities

• Adhere to federal, state and local policies and procedures related to special education aides.
• Participate in planned in-services and professional growth activities.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist in data collection.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
• Assist when needed in helping students in self-care activities such as toileting.
• Assist in implementing the adaptive behavior protocol.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Physically prompt students through instruction which may require lifting and positioning.
• Other SHARS Duties as assigned
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
