Job summary

HAYES ELEMENTARY in Katy, Texas is seeking an SPED - Adaptive Behavior Aide to support instructional and student-care duties. The role involves assisting in carrying out the instructional program and helping students with disabilities in daily activities.

You will help collect data, prepare and maintain instructional materials, assist with teacher-planned activities, and provide personal care as identified in IEPs. CPI certification is preferred and can be obtained after employment.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, families and staff.
• Experience or ability to work with students with disabilities.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to policies related to SPED aides.
• Assist in carrying out the instructional program.
• Assist with data collection.
• Assist in preparation, use and maintenance of instructional materials and equipment.
• Assist with teacher-planned activities, exercises and drills.
• Provide personal care as identified in student IEPs.
• Attend professional meetings as required.
• Provide orientation to substitute teachers.
• Physically prompt students, including lifting and positioning.
