Job summary

Caltrans is seeking a Structure Representative / Assistant Structure Representative to perform professional engineering work on highway projects involving bridges and related structures. The incumbent will act as field engineer to ensure contractors follow contract documents and may serve as Assistant Structure Representative or Assistant Resident Engineer on projects.

This position may be eligible for telework; however, candidates must report to headquarters as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications (MQs) review required; TE Civil in-person written hurdle exam may be required depending on qualifications.
• Possession/maintenance of a valid California PE license is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Serve as field engineer to ensure contractors follow contract documents for bridges, buildings, walls and other structures.
• May act as Assistant Structure Representative or Assistant Resident Engineer/Resident Engineer on construction projects.
• Provide structure representation on projects where work is predominantly structural.
