Job summary

NV5 is seeking an Assistant Structure Representative to support bridge and structural construction projects across California. You will perform on-site inspections, read plans, prepare reports, and ensure compliance with contract documents and safety standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with 3+ years in heavy civil transportation; Caltrans methods experience is preferred. EIT is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with heavy civil transportation projects including bridge/structural construction.
• Caltrans construction methods and practices experience (minimum 5 years).
• Knowledge of stress analysis, structural mechanics, and strength of materials.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily field inspections of bridge construction to ensure compliance with plans and specs.
• Prepare daily field inspection reports based on on-site activities.
• Read and interpret plans, specifications and construction documents.
• Review submittals including shop drawings, product data, test samples, and construction work plans.
• Ensure materials are received and incorporated per contract.
• Monitor and enforce construction compliance with documents, safety regulations and environmental docs.
