Job summary

Aerotek in Mesa, AZ seeks an experienced Welder for mining equipment refurbishment, focusing on structural welding and fabrication of large excavators. You will read blueprints and ensure safety and quality in a swamp-cooled fabrication bay.

Required skills include welding AR400 and mild steels, gouging worn welds, and using torches, grinders, and power tools in a heavy industrial setting. This contract-to-hire role is onsite with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a structural welder in heavy equipment, mining, or industrial environments.
• Proficiency welding abrasion-resistant steels such as AR400 and similar materials.
• Experience with carbon arc gouging or comparable weld removal techniques.
• Strong fabrication skills: layout, fit-up, cutting, bending, grinding, reinforcement.
• Ability to read blueprints, shop drawings, weld symbols.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural welding repairs on large mining excavators and heavy equipment.
• Repair cracks, fractures, and worn components from heavy-duty use.
• Weld a variety of materials including AR400 and mild steel.
• Gouge out defective welds using carbon arc gouging.
• Fabricate components: cut, bend, fit, modify, reinforce.
• Read blueprints and weld symbols to plan repairs and fabrication.
• Operate oxy-acetylene torches to cut steel and preheat AR steel.
• Use power tools and grinding equipment to prepare surfaces and finish welds.
• Work safely in confined spaces around oversized equipment.
• Coordinate repairs with peers and communicate updates.
