Job summary

Weir in Phoenix is seeking a Welder to perform high-quality welds on mining equipment parts, read blueprints, and fit up components to spec. You will operate cranes and other shop equipment and collaborate with a skilled team in a safety-conscious environment.

The role requires 3-5 years of heavy welding experience and the ability to read drawings and measurements. Onsite, day shift with standard hours, and a focus on zero-harm safety culture.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of heavy welding experience, preferably with flux-core or dual-shield welding and 1/16" welding wire
• Ability to perform both welding and fit-up work independently
• Proficient in reading basic fabrication drawings and using tape measures and hand tools
• Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork

Responsibilities

• Welding and Fabrication: Perform high-quality welding using 1/16" flux core or dual-shield weld wire on a variety of mining mobile machinery and processing equipment parts, both large and small. Daily tasks include welding and fitting parts to meet blueprint specifications. Success means producing welds that pass UT inspection and meet quality standards.
• Fit-Up Work: Independently fit up parts as needed, demonstrating self-starter initiative and strong organizational skills to maintain a clean and efficient workspace.
• Blueprint Reading and Measurement: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and weld symbols accurately; use tape measures and basic hand tools to ensure precise fabrication.
• Equipment Operation: Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, cutting torches, and air-arc equipment as part of daily responsibilities.
• Team Collaboration: Work effectively as part of a motivated and experienced team, contributing to a positive and productive work environment.
