Job summary

Qualdoc in Richmond, VA is seeking a Structural Steel QC Inspector to ensure fabricated components meet quality and industry standards in a manufacturing setting. You will inspect steel, check dimensions, and report issues against shop drawings and AWS D1.1/D1.5 standards.

Requirements include 3–5 years in structural steel fabrication or QA inspection and the ability to read shop drawings. On-site, with 1st or 2nd shift and potential overtime; starting pay is $31/hour with a $3 second-shift

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in structural steel fabrication or QA inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 welding standards.
• Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
• Experience with in-process and final quality inspections.

Structural Steel QC Inspector - Fabrication

Job Type: Direct Hire
Shifts: 1st and 2nd Shift Available
Starting Pay: $31.00/hour; higher pay may be available depending on experience
2nd Shift Differential: Additional $3.00/hour

Position Overview

We are hiring a Structural Steel QC Inspector to check fabricated steel components for accuracy, quality, and compliance with industry standards. This position is based in an AISC-certified manufacturing facility. Experienced structural steel fitters or fabricators with strong inspection and layout skills may also be considered.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fabricated structural steel throughout the production process and upon completion.
• Check materials, dimensions, layouts, and component placement against shop drawings and specifications.
• Identify, document, and report quality issues and nonconformances in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 standards.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
• Work with production teams to investigate and correct fabrication issues.
• Assist with quality improvement efforts and annual AISC quality control audits.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication, layout, or quality inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret structural steel fabrication and construction drawings.
• Strong knowledge of steel fabrication processes and quality requirements.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 welding standards.
• Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
• Experienced senior-level structural steel fitters or fabricators with relevant inspection skills are encouraged to apply.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday, 2nd Shift.
• Saturday overtime available.
