Job summary

Met-Con, Inc. is seeking experienced and detail-oriented Steel Fabrication QC Inspectors to join our Cocoa, Florida facility on 2nd shift.

You will conduct in-process and final inspections to ensure fabricated structural steel meets AWS D1.1/D1.5 standards, approved shop drawings, and project specifications. The role requires 3–5 years of relevant experience, ability to read drawings, and a welding certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel layout, fabrication, or quality inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, shop drawings, and construction plans.
• Welding certification in AWS D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with production personnel.
• Ability to identify quality issues and document findings accurately.
• Must be able to work 2nd shift at Cocoa, Florida facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform and document daily inspections of fabricated structural steel in accordance with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 requirements.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections of fabricated materials.
• Verify dimensional layouts and part placement against shop drawings.
• Ensure fabricated materials meet approved shop drawings and project specifications.
• Identify, document, and assist with the resolution of non-conforming work.
• Work with production teams to address quality concerns and maintain production standards.
• Participate in annual AISC quality control audits.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and ensure thorough documentation.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen quality and fabrication processes.
• Perform additional QC duties as assigned by management and work overtime as required.

• Pay: $27.00 – $35.00 per hour (will be based on experience), plus a $3.00 per hour shift differential
• Shift: 2nd Shift, Monday–Friday | 3:30 PM–2:00 AM (OVT required as needed)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform repetitive movements throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and maneuver materials and tools as required, with appropriate assistance or lifting equipment.
• Comfortable working in an industrial fabrication shop environment.
• Ability to safely use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
