Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking a skilled Structural Steel Welder/Fitter in Ashland, VA for a full-time, contract-to-hire role on 1st shift.

Starting pay is $23.00/hr with higher rates based on experience. Responsibilities include welding, fitting, blueprint reading, and maintaining safety and quality standards on structural steel projects.

Qualifications

• Experience with Fluxcore MIG welding.
• Ability to pass a flat 1G weld test; 3G welding capability preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.
• Experience using inspection tools, including micrometers, calipers, and rulers.
• Basic math skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to use squares, tape measures, Bessey clamps, reachovers, levels, and hammers.
• Strong communication skills, reliability, and a commitment to quality and safety.

• Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks using appropriate equipment and tools.

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Welder/Fitter to fabricate and assemble metal components for structural steel projects. This role requires welding experience, blueprint reading, accurate measurements, and the ability to meet safety and quality standards. Work may involve aluminum, stainless steel, carbon steel, silicon, titanium, and thin- or thick-gauge steel.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and process specifications to fabricate parts within required tolerances.

• Perform welding and metal fabrication tasks using appropriate equipment and tools.
