Job summary

Qualdoc in Richmond, VA is seeking a Structural Steel QC Inspector to ensure fabricated components meet quality and industry standards in a manufacturing setting. You will inspect steel, check dimensions, and report issues against shop drawings and AWS D1.1/D1.5 standards.

Requirements include 3–5 years in structural steel fabrication or QA inspection and the ability to read shop drawings. On-site, with 1st or 2nd shift and potential overtime; starting pay is $31/hour with a $3 second-shift

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in structural steel fabrication or QA inspection.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1 and D1.5 welding standards.
• Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
• Experience with in-process and final quality inspections.

Responsibilities

• Inspect fabricated structural steel throughout production and upon completion.
• Check materials, dimensions, layouts, and component placement against shop drawings.
• Identify, document, and report quality issues and nonconformances per AWS D1.1/D1.5.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections.
• Collaborate with production to investigate and correct fabrication issues.
• Support quality improvement efforts and audits.
