Job summary

Qualdoc is seeking a Steel Fabrication Quality Inspector in Richmond, VA to inspect structural steel during fabrication and before shipment. The role requires reading shop drawings, applying AWS D1.1/D1.5 as applicable, and ensuring workmanship meets drawings and specs.

Contract-to-hire with first shift, Monday–Friday, starting pay $31/hour, overtime on Saturdays as needed. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years experience in structural steel fabrication and inspection, with welding cert preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in structural steel fabrication and inspections.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings.
• Welding certification or related AWS D1.1/D1.5 experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect structural steel components during fabrication and before shipment.
• Verify dimensions, workmanship, and conformance to drawings and specs.
• Perform in-process and final quality inspections and document results.
• Identify nonconforming work and initiate follow-up actions.
• Support audits and collaborate with fabrication teams on quality improvements.
