Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Structural Steel Quality Control Inspector in Richmond, VA. This contract-to-hire role requires inspecting fabricated structural steel components, verifying dimensions, and conducting in-process and final inspections to ensure conformance with shop drawings and AWS/D1.1/D1.5 standards.

The ideal candidate has 3-5 years in structural steel layout and fabrication, ability to read drawings, and a strong knowledge of quality standards.

Qualifications

3-5 years of experience in structural steel layout and fabrication.
Ability to read and interpret fabrication and construction drawings.
Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and quality standards.
Welding certification in D1.1 and/or D1.5 preferred.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively with production teams.

Responsibilities

Inspect fabricated structural steel components throughout production.
Verify materials, dimensions, layouts, and part placement against shop drawings and specifications.
Conduct in-process and final quality inspections.
Identify and document nonconforming work in accordance with AWS D1.1/D1.5 requirements.
Work with production teams to investigate and correct quality issues.
Support ongoing quality improvement efforts.
Participate in annual AISC QC audits.
