Job summary

MECO Group is conducting a data center construction project in the Memphis area and seeks experienced structural steel fitters. The role requires translating drawings into precise field work, with immediate availability and the ability to work on-site.

Weekly pay and overtime opportunities are noted, with per diem and lodging options explained during assignment. Starting pay is $32–$36 per hour, based on qualifications and demonstrated skills.

Qualifications

MECO Group | Data Center Construction Project

MECO Group is seeking experienced Structural Steel Fitters for a Memphis-area data center project already underway. This position focuses on structural steel fit-up and installation. Candidates must be able to translate drawings into accurate field work. MUST be able to start immediately.

Responsibilities

• Read structural drawings and identify member locations, dimensions, and connection details.
• Measure, lay out, fit, and align beams, columns, plates, braces, and other structural components.
• Prepare connections and assist with bolt-up and installation.
• Check fit-up, alignment, and dimensions before final fastening or welding.
• Coordinate with welders, ironworkers, and field supervision.
• Follow rigging, fall-protection, equipment, and site safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated structural steel fitting experience in construction or industrial settings.
• Ability to read drawings and work independently on assigned fit-up tasks.
• Proficiency with measuring tools and equipment used for structural steel fitting.
• Ability to identify discrepancies and obtain direction before modifying structural members.
• Experience working safely at heights and around lifting operations.OSHA 10 and/or OSHA 30 training preferred; required site credentials must be verified before assignment.Ability to perform essential job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  Project and Employment Details

  • Starting pay: $32–$36 per hour, based on qualifications and demonstrated skills
  • Weekly pay.
  • Overtime opportunities based on project needs.
  • Shift, start date, expected duration, and any applicable night differential will be confirmed before assignment.
  • Eligibility for per diem, company-arranged lodging, and travel reimbursement will be explained in the written project assignment.
