Job summary

Zohorecruit is representing an established structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication company in Detroit seeking experienced Structural Steel Fabricators / Welders to join its shop team. The ideal candidate reads and interprets drawings, lays out and fits parts, and produces accurate steel assemblies in a production shop environment, with strong welding skills in MIG, FCAW, and stick processes.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in structural steel fabrication.
• Strong fitting, layout, and welding skills.
• Ability to read shop drawings and complete fabrication work with limited supervision.
• Solid understanding of measurements, dimensions, weld symbols, and steel fabrication practices.
• Experience with beams, columns, stairs, railings, and miscellaneous metals is strongly preferred.
• Welding certifications are a plus but are not required for every candidate.
• Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work effectively as part of a fabrication team.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate structural steel components such as beams, columns, channels, angles, plates, and related assemblies.
• Build miscellaneous steel products including stairs, handrails, ladders, frames, supports, and custom fabricated items.
• Read and interpret structural drawings, shop drawings, fabrication details, and weld symbols.
• Perform layout, measuring, fitting, tacking, and welding of steel assemblies.
• Complete MIG, FCAW, and stick welding as required by the project.
• Cut, drill, grind, cope, and prepare material for fit-up and final fabrication.
• Check dimensions, alignment, and completed assemblies against drawings and specifications.
• Safely operate common fabrication equipment, shop tools, and material-handling equipment.
• Maintain quality, accuracy, and productivity while meeting established shop standards.
• Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a safe, organized work area.
