Job summary

The City of Sunrise, Florida is seeking a Structural Inspector to conduct field inspections under the Florida Building Code and city ordinances. You will work under the Chief Structural Inspector and collaborate with developers, architects and engineers to ensure safe, code-compliant construction.

Candidates should have five years of Florida structural experience (HVHZ preferred) and hold or be eligible for required licenses.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Five years of Florida structural experience preferred, HVHZ exposure advantageous.
• Current licenses/certifications in Florida for structural inspection required or eligible.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of construction to ensure conformance with the Florida Building Code and City ordinances.
• Issue correction notices and re-inspect as deficiencies are corrected.
• Enter inspection data into the computer and maintain records.
• Consult with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, owners and tenants.
• Investigate complaints and testify at Special Magistrate hearings.
• Maintain required licenses/certifications through ongoing education.
• Perform other related work as required.
