Job summary

City of Sunrise is seeking a Structural Inspector to conduct field inspections ensuring construction compliance with the Florida Building Code and local ordinances. This role involves coordinating with developers, engineers, and contractors while documenting inspection results.

Applicants must hold relevant licenses, maintain certifications, and may participate in an Alternative Work Schedule starting Jan 2026 to support work‑life balance.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of structural inspections, procedures and practices.
• Ability to read and interpret construction documents, plans, and recognize deviations.
• Ability to enforce code regulations firmly, tactfully, and impartially.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections of construction to ensure conformance with Florida Building Code and City ordinances.
• Issue correction notices and re‑inspect when deficiencies are corrected.
• Enter inspection status in the system after each inspection.
• Consult with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and tenants.
• Investigate complaints regarding alleged code violations and take appropriate action.
• Post properties and testify at Special Magistrate hearings.
