Job summary

The City of Sunrise, a dynamic Florida municipality, seeks a Structural Inspector to enforce the Florida Building Code and city ordinances on new construction, alterations, and inspections. You will work under the Chief Structural Inspector and coordinate with developers, architects, engineers, and inspectors to ensure safety and code compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a current Florida standard building inspector license or BORA certification, plus HVHZ experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Applicants must meet one of the listed licensure/experience options.
• All required licenses and certifications must be current.

Responsibilities

• Perform field inspections for construction per FBC and city ordinances.
• Issue correction notices and re-inspect when deficiencies corrected.
• Enter inspection results in the computer system.
• Consult with developers, architects, engineers, contractors, owners, and tenants.
• Investigate complaints and take appropriate action.
• Testify at Special Magistrate hearings.
• Maintain required licenses/certifications via continuing education.
• Perform other related work as required.
