ADVEX Corporation in Hampton, Virginia is seeking a Fitter to lay out, fit, align, and assemble structural steel and fabricated metal components per drawings and customer specs. You will work with welders, read engineering documents, and ensure assemblies meet tight tolerances and quality standards.

The role requires blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, material prep, and adherence to safety and 5S practices.

Qualifications

• Experience as a fitter or related metal fabrication role preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and engineering drawings.
• Skilled with layout and alignment of metal components.
• Proficient in using measuring instruments.
• Knowledge of tack welding and weld preparation.

Responsabilités

• Review travelers, blueprints, and specs to determine layout and assembly.
• Measure, lay out, position, and align metal components.
• Prepare materials through cutting, grinding, beveling, drilling.
• Fit and assemble structural steel and fabricated components.
• Use clamps and fixtures to secure components for welding.
• Verify alignment and tolerances with precision instruments.
• Identify discrepancies and correct fit-up before welding.
• Perform tack welding and weld prep.
• Inspect fit-ups for tolerances and quality.
• Coordinate with welders and production to resolve challenges.
• Maintain clean, safe work area and follow 5S.
