Qualifications

• Read and interpret blueprints.
• Experience in FCAW welding/fitting; structural steel background preferred.
• Recognize weld symbols.
• Read a tape measure.
• Able to gouge material.
• Prepare layouts for jigs and floor laydowns.
• Read blueprints for fitting.
• Communicate effectively with supervisor and coworkers.
• Perform work with minimal errors and within time.
• May handle more complex tasks with supervision.

Responsibilities

• Weld components in vertical or horizontal position.
• Layout, position, align, and secure parts using straightedges, squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Examine work pieces for defects and measure for conformance with specifications.
• Operate hand and power tools common to welding (SMAW/GMAW).
• Maintain equipment in safe condition.
• Follow safety rules and wear PPE (face shield, gloves, etc.).
• Follow company and OSHA safety rules.
