Job summary

Richard Adams Engineers & Consultants (RAE) is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to support our structural team onsite in Richmond Heights, MO. You will assist with preliminary and structural design, coordinate with project managers, architects, and drafting staff, and gain hands-on experience under mentorship.

Requirements include enrollment in a bachelor’s program in structural or civil engineering, a 3.0 GPA, and the ability to work 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum GPA 3.0 out of 4.0.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week.
• Internship or co-op experience preferred but not required.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing preliminary and structural building design for projects across the country.
• Help produce structural calculations for construction documents and permits.
• Coordinate with project managers, architects, and drafting staff to find creative solutions.
• Work with a mentor to review drawings for accuracy and cost-saving ideas.

About You

Richard Adams Engineers & Consultants (RAE) is a full-service structural engineering firm established in 1993. We're looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team of experts onsite in Richmond Heights, MO. A DAY IN THE LIFE

An Intern has the opportunity to assist our Structural team with the following:

• Assist in preparing preliminary and structural building design for projects across the country
• Help to produce structural calculations for implementation with technical design/drafting staff during preparation of construction documents for permit submittal as well as construction
• Communicate with technical design/drafting staff. Coordinate with construction project managers, architect, civil, mechanical, clients and other project team members to find creative solutions to structural building elements
• Working with a mentor to provide peer reviews of design drawings to ensure accuracy and find creative solutions or alternative design suggestions to save on cost and/or design schedule

Necessary Qualifications

• Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0
• Ability to work 40 hours per week
• Previous Internship or Co-op experience preferred but not required
• Internship or classwork experience in AutoCAD preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong work ethic
