Job summary

Richard Adams Engineers & Consultants (RAE) offers a Structural Engineering Intern position for Summer 2027 in Richmond Heights, MO. The role supports the structural team with design, calculations, and collaboration across project teams nationwide, under a mentor for peer reviews and cost-saving design choices.

Applicants should be enrolled in a structural or civil engineering program with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be able to commit to 40 hours per week.

Richard Adams Engineers & Consultants (RAE) is a full-service structural engineering firm established in 1993. RAE offers a full-range of professional engineering services, including project planning and feasibility studies, conceptual design, design development, construction document preparation, and construction phase services.

We're looking for a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team of experts onsite in Richmond Heights, MO. A DAY IN THE LIFE

An Intern has the opportunity to assist our Structural team with the following:

• Assist in preparing preliminary and structural building design for projects across the country
• Help to produce structural calculations for implementation with technical design/drafting staff during preparation of construction documents for permit submittal as well as construction
• Communicate with technical design/drafting staff. Coordinate with construction project managers, architect, civil, mechanical, clients and other project team members to find creative solutions to structural building elements
• Working with a mentor to provide peer reviews of design drawings to ensure accuracy and find creative solutions or alternative design suggestions to save on cost and/or design schedule

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

• Enrolled in Bachelor's degree program in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0
• Ability to work 40 hours per week
• Previous Internship or Co-op experience preferred but not required
• Internship or classwork experience in AutoCAD preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong work ethic
