Richard Adams Engineers & Consultants (RAE) is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern to join our team onsite in Richmond Heights, MO. You will assist the structural team with preliminary and structural design, and help produce calculations for construction documents and permits.

We value collaboration and mentorship, offering a layout where you work with project managers, architects, and drafting staff to develop creative cost-efficient solutions while gaining practical industry experience.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum GPA 3.0/4.0.
• Ability to work 40 hours/week.
• Internship or co-op preferred but not required.
• AutoCAD experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing preliminary and structural design for projects.
• Produce structural calculations for construction documents for permits and construction.
• Coordinate with project team members to find creative structural solutions.

A DAY IN THE LIFEAn Intern has the opportunity to assist our Structural team with the following:

• Assist in preparing preliminary and structural building design for projects across the country
• Help to produce structural calculations for implementation with technical design/drafting staff during preparation of construction documents for permit submittal as well as construction
• Communicate with technical design/drafting staff. Coordinate with construction project managers, architect, civil, mechanical, clients and other project team members to find creative solutions to structural building elements
• Working with a mentor to provide peer reviews of design drawings to ensure accuracy and find creative solutions or alternative design suggestions to save on cost and/or design schedule

Necessary Qualifications

• Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree program in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0
• Ability to work 40 hours per week
• Previous Internship or Co-op experience preferred but not required
• Internship or classwork experience in AutoCAD preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a strong work ethic
