Walker Consultants in Waltham, MA is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to gain hands‑on experience on large, complex structures, working with engineers, architects, planners, and restoration professionals on projects that impact the built environment.

You’ll contribute to designs and construction documents, perform design calculations, develop 3D models in Revit/BIM, prepare drawings, and participate in fieldwork and meetings while learning how design translates to the

Qualifications

• Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil/Structural Eng or related field.
• 0–5 years of structural design experience.
• Familiarity with Revit preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, MS Office, or MS Project is a plus.
• Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers, architects, consultants, and clients.
• Reliable access to a personal vehicle for the internship duration.

Responsibilities

• Develop structural designs and construction documents with project team.
• Assist with structural design calculations for superstructures, foundations, and soil-retention.
• Develop and coordinate 3D building models using Revit/BIM.
• Prepare and revise drawings including floor plans, elevations, and sections.
• Interpret and apply building codes and other requirements.
• Participate in project coordination and meetings with engineers, architects, and others.
• Assist with construction‑phase activities, including submittals reviews.
• Participate in fieldwork and site visits to gain hands‑on experience.
• Learn how design decisions translate from drawing board to field.
