Job summary

Walker Consultants in Minneapolis is seeking a Structural Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to work on structural design, restoration, forensic, and building envelope projects. You will support project development from investigation and design through construction administration and field observation.

You will collaborate with engineers and project managers, apply engineering concepts to real-world projects, and develop technical skills for a successful career in structural engineering.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Architectural/Engineering Technology.
• 0-5 years of previous structural design experience.
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Support project design and documentation with Project Engineers and Project Managers.
• Prepare and revise structural drawings, details, calculations, and technical reports.
• Utilize BIM technology (Revit) to develop and coordinate 3D building models.
• Perform structural design calculations for building structures, foundations, and retaining systems.
• Interpret and apply building codes, industry standards, and project requirements.
• Assist with field investigations, site visits, and condition assessments.
