Job summary

Walker Consultants is offering a Structural Engineering Intern position in the United States to gain hands-on experience on large, complex structures and thanks to a multidisciplinary team. You will support design calculations, 3D modeling, and the preparation of construction documents.

The internship seeks students pursuing Civil/Structural Engineering with up to 5 years of related experience, preferring Revit familiarity and basic AutoCAD exposure.

Qualifications

• 0–5 years of previous structural design experience.
• Familiarity with Revit is preferred.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, or Microsoft Project is a plus.
• Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work alongside Project Architects and Engineers to develop structural designs and construction documents.
• Assist with structural design calculations and detailing for superstructures, foundations, and soil-retention systems.
• Develop and coordinate 3D building models using Revit/BIM technology.
• Prepare and revise drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and structural details.
• Interpret and apply building codes and other applicable requirements.
• Participate in project coordination and meetings with engineers, architects, and other team members.
• Assist with construction-phase activities, including reviewing submittals and shop drawings.
• Participate in fieldwork and site visits to gain firsthand experience with active projects.
