Job summary

Ghafari Associates is seeking a Structural Engineering intern to work in-office at our Dearborn, MI and Grand Rapids, MI locations for May–August 2027. You will support the design team on structural projects, contribute to CAD/BIM documentation, and gain hands-on experience with modeling, detailing, and coordination with other disciplines.

Under supervision, you will apply Revit and AutoCAD skills to generate drawings and digital models, collaborating with engineers and supporting design

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline at an accredited university.
• Students should have completed at least (2) years of classes.
• Previous internship/co-op experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Create engineering documents using CAD/CAM technologies (AutoCAD and Revit).
• Collaborate with engineers during design phase to understand scope and data needs.
• Provide limited design input on documents and detail designs with engineer input.
• Produce final documents for engineers review and ensure accuracy.
• Check section integration and discipline coordination for consistency.
• Work with engineers to resolve document coordination and production problems.
• Reproduce documents upon request and support 3D modeling tasks.
• Assist with project workflows and general duties as assigned.
