Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for our transportation department in Hunt Valley, MD. This internship begins Summer 2027 and offers hands-on experience in design and inspection of highway structures.

You will work with experienced professionals and gain exposure to cutting-edge technology within a globally recognized firm. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Civil Engineering degree, have completed statics and materials courses, and are proficient with CAD/Excel.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field and at least 2 years of study.
• Completed courses related to statics, strength of materials, introductory steel design, and introductory reinforced concrete design.
• Ability to follow procedures and pay attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
• Prepare engineering related calculations.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Review shop drawings.
• Assist in the inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
• Prepare details for construction drawings using CAD software.
• Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
