Job summary

AECOM is inviting enthusiastic Civil Engineering students for a Transportation Internship focused on the design and inspection of highway structures in the Virginia Beach, VA area. The role offers exposure to CAD work, calculations, and field inspection opportunities beginning Summer 2027.

You will work within a structured team, gaining hands-on experience across engineering disciplines, with a hybrid office schedule in Virginia Beach.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with ≥1 year completed.
• Interest in bridge design and transportation structures.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design and inspection of highway structures.
• Prepare engineering calculations and CAD drawings.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Review shop drawings and assist in construction documentation.
• Support inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
• Work under supervision of PM or senior team member.
