Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for our Transportation department in the Virginia Beach, VA office. As an intern in the transportation department, you will assist in the design and inspection of highway structures and gain hands-on experience in engineering, design, and infrastructure projects that make a real-world impact.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with at least one year of study.
• Graduates planning to continue with a Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions.
• Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
• Sponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.
• This position requires a hybrid work schedule in Virginia Beach, VA.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
• Prepare engineering related calculations.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Review shop drawings.
• Assist in the inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
• Prepare details for construction drawings using CAD software.
• Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
