Job summary

AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for the transportation department in the Hunt Valley, MD office. This internship provides hands-on experience in design and inspection of highway structures, with a Summer 2027 start date.

You will work with experienced professionals in a global firm, applying standard techniques and software to real-world infrastructure projects while developing technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with at least 2 years of study.
• Graduates must be enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform assignments requiring application of standard techniques, procedures and criteria to carry out engineering tasks.
• Prepare engineering related calculations.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and cost estimates.
• Review shop drawings.
• Assist in the inspection of bridges, culverts, and tunnels.
• Prepare details for construction drawings using CAD software.
• Work under the supervision of a project manager or senior-level team member.
