Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking an Engineering Intern in Norfolk, VA. The role involves applying standard engineering techniques to design and update systems, assist lead engineers, and support project tasks across Aviation & Federal markets.

The internship emphasizes collaboration, data analysis, and presenting solutions. A minimum 3.0 GPA and active campus/community involvement are preferred; ABET accreditation is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

  • Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
  • ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
  • Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and PowerPoint presentations.
  • Assist with responses to general questions.
  • Participate in continuous improvement by collecting and analyzing data.
  • Present solutions to concerns.
  • Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
