Job summary

Valmont is seeking a highly motivated Structural Engineering Intern for the Coatings Division in Valley, NE. You will participate in active projects, learn best practices from senior engineers, and gain exposure to multiple facets of the business while supporting project goals.

The internship is paid, includes tuition reimbursement options, and offers flexible summer hours with potential for full-time employment after graduation.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Preference for Civil or Structural Engineering majors.

Responsibilities

• Learn from the Structural Engineering Manager, P.E., S.E.
• Inspect properties to assess existing conditions of foundations and building structures.
• Field measure and perform load and capacity calculations.
• Evaluate and select appropriate construction materials.
• Provide technical advice.
• Determine and obtain planning and/or building regulations approval.
• Liaise with architects, engineers, and other staff.
• Monitor and inspect work undertaken by contractors.
• Administer contracts.
• Manage projects and prepare scope of work documents.
• Prepare reports, designs and drawings.

A Brief Summary of This Position:

Valmont is currently seeking a highly motivated and talented individual for the Structural Engineering Intern position in Coatings Division. We are looking for a highly driven individual that will be an active participant in contributing to the goals of the Coatings Engineering team, while learning best practices from some of the finest Engineers in the world. You will learn a tremendous amount in this role and will be given exposure to other parts of the business, including subject matter experts from a wide variety of divisions and professions.

Valmont's internship program mission is provide a hands-on learning experience through project work, leadership development, job shadowing and interaction with senior leadership.

What We're Looking For:

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college or university , with a preference for candidates majoring in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings to 3D models
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
