Job summary

Valmont Industries in Valley, Nebraska, is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineering Intern to join the Global Utility Division. You will participate in design and analysis, collaborating across Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, QA, and Engineering Services to tackle real-world projects.

The role offers paid internship opportunities with mentorship, tuition assistance, and flexible scheduling: full-time during Summer and part-time during the academic year, with potential for a full-time

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited college.
• Completion of Statics and Dynamics coursework.
• Proficiency with CAD applications and ability to convert drawings to 3D models.
• Strong MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
• Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Mechanics of Materials is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in design and analysis processes, recommending improvements to design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures.
• Collaborate with team members from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering Services to understand the full product development process and assist in troubleshooting design challenges.
• Apply and expand your design knowledge while considering manufacturability and efficiency of final designs.

You'll gain hands‑on experience, exposure to cross‑functional collaboration, and valuable insight into real‑world engineering projects that make a global impact. What You'll Do:

What We're Looking For:

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering degree from an ABET‑accredited college or university, with a preference for candidates majoring in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Completion of Statics and Dynamics coursework
• Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings to 3D models
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Mechanics of Materials, along with advanced CAD skills and design application experience is highly preferred
