Job summary

Valmont offers a Civil/Structural Engineering Intern role in Bellville, TX, designed to pair students with industry‑leading engineers on meaningful projects. You will gain hands‑on experience in concrete design, analysis, and cross‑functional collaboration within a global manufacturing context.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing a Civil, Structural, orMechanical engineering degree in an ABET‑accredited program.
• Degree in Civil or Structural engineering is preferred.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist design engineers in evaluating criteria and methods for concrete design and analysis.
• Work with cross‑functional teams across Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, QA and Engineering.
• Apply design knowledge to considering manufacturability of final designs.

Valmont is seeking a motivated and talented Civil/Structural Engineering Intern to join our Global Utility Division. In this role, you will work alongside our Concrete Design Engineering team, contributing to meaningful projects while gaining hands‑on experience from industry‑leading engineers. This internship offers a unique opportunity to develop technical skills, learn engineering best practices, and collaborate with subject matter experts across multiple business functions. You will gain valuable exposure to both the engineering and operational sides of the business, helping build a strong foundation for your future career.

Valmont’s internship program is designed to provide a hands‑on learning experience through project work, job shadowing, leadership development, and interaction with senior leaders across the company.

What You’ll Do

• Actively participate and recommend changes in design criteria, analysis methods, drafting procedures and developing new methods and procedures
• Work with a design team that consists of one or more individuals from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance and Engineering Services getting exposure to different angles of team development including the process used for troubleshooting potential design errors
• Gain and subsequently apply design knowledge when considering the manufacturability of the final design

What We’re Looking For

• Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET‑accredited college or university; degree in Civil or Structural engineering preferred
• CAD skills including design applications and converting drawings to 3D models
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint application
• Demonstrated strong communication interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills
• Demonstrated problem solving/critical thinking skills

Preferred

• Exposure to concrete testing and mix design
• Experience in reinforced concrete design
