Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the Global Utility Division. You will participate in design and analysis with seasoned engineers, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to cross-functional teams.

The internship emphasizes mentorship, meaningful work, and professional development, with flexible summer/full-time and part-time academic-year arrangements. Remote work from Chattanooga is available as part of a broader program.

Qualifications

• Rising junior or senior pursuing ABET-accredited Civil/Structural/Mechanical engineering degree.
• Statics and Mechanics of Materials coursework completed.
• Proficiency with CAD applications and ability to convert drawings to 3D models.
• Strong skills with MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design and Strength of Materials; advanced CAD skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively participate in design and analysis processes, recommending improvements to design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures.
• Collaborate with team members from Manufacturing, Procurement, Service, Quality Assurance, and Engineering Services to understand the full product development process and assist in troubleshooting design challenges.
• Apply and expand your design knowledge while considering manufacturability and efficiency of final designs.

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Civil Engineering Intern to join our Global Utility Division. In this role, you'll be an active participant in contributing to the goals of the North America Steel Design Engineering team while learning best practices from some of the finest engineers in the world. You'll gain hands-on experience, exposure to cross-functional collaboration, and valuable insight into real-world engineering projects that make a global impact.

You'll work alongside experienced engineers and subject matter experts across a variety of disciplines while building technical and professional skills that will serve you throughout your career.

What You'll Do

• Actively participate in design and analysis processes, recommending improvements to design criteria, analysis methods, and drafting procedures

What We're Looking For

• Rising junior or senior currently pursuing a degree in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
• Completion of Statics and Mechanics of Materials coursework
• Proficiency with CAD applications, including the ability to convert drawings to 3D models
• Strong skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Coursework or experience in Structural Analysis, Steel Design, and Strength of Materials, along with advanced CAD skills and design application experience is highly preferred
