Job summary

Thompson Engineering seeks a motivated Structural Engineering Associate to support design, analysis, and documentation of structural systems for buildings and infrastructure. You will work with engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to develop technically sound solutions.

Ideal candidates hold a Civil/Structural degree with 0–5 years of experience and an EIT. Proficiency in structural software such as RAM, ETABS, RISA, and Revit is preferred, with strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
0–5 years of structural engineering experience; internships are a plus.
EIT certification is required.
Familiarity with structural principles, analysis methods, and codes.
Proficiency with MS Office; experience with structural software is preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist with analysis and design of steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
Prepare calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
Develop and review structural models using engineering software.
Perform evaluations, inspections, and field investigations as required.
Prepare construction documents and respond to RFIs.
Coordinate designs with architecture, mechanical, electrical, and other disciplines.
Review shop drawings and submittals for Code compliance.
Participate in project meetings and communicate with clients and contractors.
Conduct site visits to observe conditions and progress.
Apply building codes and standards; help with planning and scheduling.
