Job summary

Lvi-Associates in Las Vegas, NV is recruiting an Associate Structural Engineer to lead and manage diverse building-design projects under senior leadership. You will collaborate with project principals to craft structural concepts, develop design strategies, and document feasibility studies for client-focused solutions.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of structural design experience, PE licensure or reciprocity, and strong communication with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
  • Minimum of 5 years of structural building design experience.
  • Ability to independently analyze, design, and detail complete structural systems.
  • Strong understanding of structural analysis, design principles, and building codes.
  • Experience identifying and resolving design conflicts and constructability challenges.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, architects, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering (preferred).
  • Structural Engineer (SE) license or licensure through reciprocity (preferred).
  • Experience with high seismic design category structures (preferred).
  • Experience performing nonlinear analysis and time-history analysis (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Manage structural projects under the guidance of senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with project principals to develop structural concepts and design strategies.
  • Perform and document feasibility studies.
  • Develop basis of design reports and structural system recommendations.
  • Evaluate alternative framing systems for code compliance, constructability, serviceability, and cost efficiency.
  • Develop preliminary analytical models for gravity and lateral force-resisting systems.
  • Lead projects through Design Development, Construction Documents, and Construction Administration phases.
  • Attend and participate in design and construction meetings.
  • Perform structural analysis and design of various building systems.
  • Design and analyze structural connections and joints.
  • Coordinate and direct project engineers and technical staff.
  • Collaborate with architects and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Work with BIM personnel to develop contract documents.
  • Review specifications, drawings, and documentation for completeness and consistency.
  • Assist contractors with interpretation of construction documents and field-related issues.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals for compliance with design intent.
  • Respond to RFIs and field inquiries.
  • Evaluate substitution requests and alternate design proposals.
  • Assist in development and implementation of company design standards.
  • Support marketing and business development initiatives.
  • Participate in fee development and proposal preparation activities.

Overview

A well-established structural engineering consulting firm is seeking an Associate Structural Engineer to join its growing team. This position offers the opportunity to lead and manage a variety of building design projects while working closely with senior leadership, project teams, architects, contractors, and consultants. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in structural building design, project management, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage structural projects under the guidance of senior leadership.

Technical Experience

Candidates should possess experience in the design and analysis of:

  • Mid-rise and high-rise building structures
  • Concrete shear wall systems
  • Reinforced concrete slabs and beams
  • Post-tensioned concrete slabs and beams
  • Mat foundations
  • Deep foundation systems
  • Linear dynamic analysis
  • Structural modeling using leading analysis platforms

Proficiency with the following is preferred:

  • International Building Code (IBC)
  • ASCE 7
  • ACI 318
Software Experience
Required
  • ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD, STRUDL, or similar structural analysis software
