Working closely with the owner’s representative, program management consultants, and contractors, this individual will ensure the structural design meets all performance, quality, and compliance standards. This is a highly collaborative and fast-paced role requiring deep knowledge of transit structures and strong management of design deliverables in coordination with internal and external partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide expert guidance on structural integrity, code compliance, and design feasibility.
  • Coordinate with design-build contractors and external consultants to ensure quality and timely deliverables.
  • Monitor cost, risk, and schedule impacts of structural changes or design issues.
  • Prepare or review technical submittals, drawings, and engineering documentation.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Project Delivery
  • Act as a technical liaison between the project management team, contractors, and agency representatives.
  • Collaborate with external consultants and owners’ representatives to align on design expectations and changes.
  • Support field operations by reviewing construction issues related to structural scope.
  • Contribute to the successful delivery of a multi-phase project scheduled through 2028.
Compliance, Reporting & Standards
  • Ensure all structural work complies with local, state, and federal engineering regulations.
  • Review and advise on mitigation strategies related to structural risks or cost overruns.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings and provide technical input for decision-making.
  • Support documentation and close-out processes tied to structural components.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in California
  • 7-15 years of relevant experience in structural engineering
  • Expertise in rail, bridge, and transit-related infrastructure projects
  • Experience managing design or construction oversight in a client-representative or owners’ rep capacity
  • Strong technical writing, reporting, and presentation skills
  • Willingness to work onsite in downtown Los Angeles 4-5 days per week
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience on large-scale public infrastructure projects exceeding $100M
  • Familiarity with LA Metro or other major transit agencies
  • Experience navigating complex design-build contractor relationships
  • Exposure to electric transportation systems, such as rail electrification or electric bus facilities
  • Prior experience in fast-paced or high-pressure delivery environments
Compensation and Benefits:

This full-time position offers a competitive annual salary range of $175,000 to $210,000, commensurate with experience, with a performance bonus twice a year.
