Senior Project Engineer – Transportation Infrastructure - Pasadena, California

Our Parsons Pasadena, California office in the Los Angeles area is hiring a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Transportation Infrastructure team. You will perform a wide variety of engineering tasks for road and highway projects, from feasibility studies and preliminary engineering to final design, report writing, and development of construction contract documents. This role will support projects in Southern California and other regions as needed. This position offers hybrid remote work (2-3 days per week from home).

What You'll Be Doing:

• Perform roadway engineering tasks such as geometric design, analyses, and project plan development.
• Utilize MicroStation and AutoCAD proficiently.
• Prepare engineering design plans, computations, reports, specifications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
• Assist the project manager in executing and delivering project assignments.
• Coordinate and communicate with internal teams and external clients/agencies.
• May plan, lead, and supervise lower-level engineers on assignments.
• Participate in project meetings, site visits, and field inspections as required.

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of experience in roadway-related fields.
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required. If from another state, obtain California PE license within 1 year.
• Experience with Caltrans projects and knowledge of Caltrans standards, policies, and manuals.
• Proficiency in MicroStation and/or AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to apply advanced engineering techniques and solve complex problems.

Preferred Skills:

• Extensive experience supporting major road and highway projects for state DOTs.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering and design teams.
• Strong willingness to learn and share knowledge to advance skills.
