Job summary

Universal Resources, Inc. in Birmingham, AL, is seeking a Transmission Civil Design Engineer to design and analyze substation structures using CAD tools, with emphasis on reinforced concrete and structural steel design.

You will collaborate with engineers and multiple departments, review standards, coordinate with vendors, and support construction services, field services, and project management through pre-, during, and post-construction phases. Some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required.
• EIT Certification or PE license preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in structural steel and concrete design.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high quality calculation and design packages for substation and transmission facilities.
• Design and analyze reinforced concrete and structural steel components.
• Coordinate with other departments and communicate with manufacturers and vendors.
• Provide support to Construction Services, Substation Construction, Transmission Line Construction, Field Services, and Project Management.
• Perform site visits and participate in design review meetings.
• Provide work direction and oversight for designers and drafters.
• Some overnight travel may be required.
