Job description

Lead Building Projects That Stand Apart
Own the client, the design, and the project outcome

You’re not looking to be just another “calc and details” engineer. You want to lead the work, own the client relationships, and set the standard for how structural projects get delivered.

In this role, you’ll drive business development for structural building projects, manage your own portfolio of clients, and run projects from concept through construction administration.

You’ll lead structural design for a variety of building types, guiding Project Engineers and BIM specialists while still staying close enough to the work to keep your technical edge sharp.

This is a chance to blend structural expertise, project leadership, and client development into one high-impact seat.

If you’re a licensed Structural Engineer with a track record in building design and you’re ready to lead, we want to talk to you.

What You’ll Work On

You’ll be the go-to leader for building-related structural projects, from first conversation to final punch list:

  • Structural design of new and existing building projects
  • Client-facing building projects with ongoing relationships
  • Project budgets and delivery for structural assignments
  • Design documents, structural calculations, and specifications
  • Construction-phase structural support and administration
  • Quality control reviews for structural deliverables
  • Oversight of Project Engineers and BIM specialists
  • Growth and management of a personal client portfolio

You’ll apply your working knowledge of structural analysis and design software and Revit to keep projects efficient, coordinated, and buildable.

This is where technical excellence in structural engineering meets real responsibility for clients, budgets, and teams.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Developing and managing a portfolio of ongoing structural clients
  • Serving as project manager on structural building projects
  • Managing project scopes, schedules, and budgets for structural work
  • Performing and leading structural design for various building projects
  • Producing and overseeing design documents, calculations, and specifications
  • Managing and mentoring Project Engineers and BIM specialists
  • Performing quality control reviews on structural design deliverables
  • Providing construction administration services for structural projects
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to keep projects on track
  • Communicating clearly with clients, design teams, and contractors
  • Tackling other project-related responsibilities as assigned
What We’re Looking For
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural Engineering from a U.S. accredited college
  • Master of Science in Structural Engineering from a U.S. accredited college or university preferred
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of professional experience in structural design of buildings and related structures
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis and design programs
  • Working knowledge of Revit
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Applicable U.S.-based work experience
The Experience That Will Really Get Our Attention

The standout candidate is a seasoned Structural Engineer who’s as comfortable in front of clients as they are reviewing a complex frame system. You’ve led building projects, kept budgets under control, and know how to guide developing engineers and BIM staff without losing sight of the technical details.

You bring a portfolio of building work, can talk through your design decisions with clarity, and you’re ready to keep growing on both the business development and project leadership fronts.

Why This Opportunity?

Our client offers the rare mix of serious structural work and a people-focused environment where work-life balance is more than a buzzword.

You’ll step into a role with real ownership: leading projects, shaping client relationships, and mentoring the next generation of structural talent.

On top of that, you’ll see strong, competitive compensation paired with a deep benefits package:

  • Hybrid home/office flexibility
  • Generous PTO and holidays
  • Paid parental leave
  • Multiple insurance options
  • 401K with company match
  • Reimbursement for licensure and tuition
  • Paid professional memberships
  • Seminars
  • Conferences
  • Robust mentoring and training programs

You’ll also enjoy the extras that make a long-term home:

  • Wellness initiatives
  • Assistance programs
  • Referral bonuses
  • Regular social, team-building, and sporting events
