Job summary

LVI Associates in Washington, DC area seeks a Structural Project Engineer to lead design on medium to large projects across mission critical, commercial, institutional and aviation sectors. The role offers a collaborative, employee-owned culture and a highly flexible hybrid/remote working environment.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with clients, manage contract documents, and contribute to technical leadership as the firm continues its growth in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Qualifications

  • 4–6 years of structural engineering experience focused on design.
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering required.
  • PE license preferred or ability to obtain soon.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design and detailing of steel, concrete, masonry, and timber structures.
  • Coordinate with clients to define project requirements.
  • Direct project staff and supervise engineers and draft personnel.
  • Prepare contract documents, drawings, and specifications.

Desired Skills and Experience

Your Role:
  • The Role as a Project Engineer to join our Structural Practice and work on medium to large-size projects such as mission critical facilities, aviation projects, commercial developments, and other complex structures
  • Other projects include cultural buildings, office buildings, residential buildings, healthcare facilities, research centers, and tenant renovation work
  • Responsibilities assist in the direction, coordination, planning, organization, integration, and completion of engineering projects within the area of assigned responsibility
  • Communicate with clients to understand project requirements
  • Plan and formulate engineering program and organize project staff according to project requirements
  • Perform analysis and design of structural systems for all types of buildings and materials using various building codes
  • Manage other design team members and supervise the work of engineers and draft persons
  • Direct project staff in preparing contract documents, such as drawings and specifications
What they're Looking For:
  • 4-6 years of structural engineering experience with a focus on structural design
  • Must have a Masters degreee
  • Strong proficiency in structural analysis software, AutoCAD, and Revit.
  • PE License preferred (or ability to obtain in the near future).
  • Exceptional problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Highly competitive base salary + (bonus at 10-15% of base) + ownership
