Job summary

WSP is seeking a Structural Engineer to join our US Mining & Metal, Process & Infrastructure Design team in Tempe, AZ (or other preferred locations). The role focuses on structural analysis, design, and production of construction documents for water treatment, heavy industry, mining, and power clients.

The ideal candidate has 3–5+ years of structural experience, EIT required, and potential to obtain PE/SE within 1–2 years.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from ABET accredited school.
  • PE or SE license/intent to obtain within 1–2 years is preferred; EIT required.
  • 3–5+ years structural engineering experience, heavy industry preferred.
  • Strong communication with clients, contractors and teams.
  • Knowledge of IBC, ASCE7, AISC, ACI 318/350 and seismic design.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis and design of structural elements manually and with software.
  • Review building code requirements and design standards.
  • Prepare client deliverables: field reports, calculation packages, plans/drawings, specs.
  • Perform inspections in concrete, masonry, and steel.
  • Review reports, calculations, and correspondence for the structural discipline.
  • Define structural scope, budget, and schedule for projects.
  • Prepare and review engineering and construction cost estimates.
  • Support proposals and bids, including design-build projects.
  • Site data collection and field work for investigations.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary design team members on structural tasks.
  • Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, and technical reports for procurement and construction.
