Job summary

Pratt & Whitney, a leading aerospace company, is hiring for a structural analysis role based in East Hartford. You will perform structural analyses under guidance, evaluate changes for dynamic impacts, and analyze vibratory responses to identify damaging modes in engine components.

Ideal candidates hold a mechanical or aerospace degree (B.S. with experience or M.S.), with FEA proficiency and rotordynamics familiarity. Onsite work and a clear pathway for professional growth are offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 2 years of work experience OR a Master's degree.
• Experience with structural engineering fundamentals including load calculations and vibrations.
• Experience with finite element analysis.
• 10% travel requirement.

Responsibilities

• Execute structural analyses with moderate direction from experienced engineers
• Evaluate engineering changes for structural and system dynamic impacts
• Analyze system-level vibratory responses for damaging modes of vibration
• Generate high-fidelity solutions of mechanical loads through primary structural components
• Support engine test with predictions
• Assist in root cause investigation and disposition of abnormal vibration and loads events
• Identify opportunities for automation and error-proofing in analysis processes
• Collaborate with peers and RTX colleagues on tool improvements to reduce analysis time and mistake-proof existing methods
